Casa Lapostolle Clos Apalta 2001 Wine Review (NW)

Tasting notes:
Gorgeous dark purple color
Intense nose of wild dark berries, spice, and dusty earth
Rich fruit on the palate with anise notes
Endless finish with chewy tannins and expanded layers of dark fruit, anise, and dark chocolate
A great wine can be rich, robust, and elegant all in one. It’s quite an accomplisment, and is something I rarely get to experience. I taste a lot of good wine, but not a lot of great wine. On that ocassion, I have a great wine to recommend.
Mostly Carmenere, that
wine is a blend of other worldly grape varieties as well. It is the flagship wine of Casa Lapostolle in Chile, a winery that has accomplished a lot by the years. Three years ago, I paid about $55 for that bottle. I’ve seen more recent vintages priced a bit higher.
Drink that wine slowly by the course of the evening considering it will evolve in the glass given instance. Enjoy with good food and good company! Raise a glass!
